National Pork Board Taps Ag Technologies Intl to Launch Course Library

Edina, MN - National Pork Board has selected Ag Technologies Intl to build and launch a series of interactive educational training courses for pork producers.

Under the agreement, Ag Technologies Intl will develop new, as well as repurpose existing, production, management and business courses for both CD-ROM and web deployment. The initial program calls for 14 training courses specifically designed for pork producers and pork production employees, as consistent with the mission of the Pork Checkoff, the program's underwriter.

"We have a strong mission to provide information to pork producers," says Dr. David Meissinger, Assistant VP of Education Services for National Pork Board. "Distance Learning fits well with that mission. It decreases cost and allows us to provide more exact, more targeted information to pork producers."

The vision of the Pork Checkoff-funded education program is to develop a full library of pork production training courses. Following the development of the initial 14 courses in 2003, Ag Technologies and the National Pork Board will develop an additional six-to-eight distance learning courses each year.

Meissinger says National Pork Board selected Ag Technologies Intl from a field of qualified companies because of their combination of experience. "It's unique to have a company such as Ag Technologies that has a background in distance learning but also understands our industry, our clientele and our constituents."

"The National Pork Board has done a great job educating its producers in the past," says Tom Gray of Ag Technologies Intl. "We are very excited to work with them and help them achieve their vision for the future."
